I offer individual therapy to adults.

My face-to-face work is based in south-west Sheffield.

Alternatively, depending on your needs, I may be able to offer online therapy.

Speech & Language Therapy

Nurturing Your 'Voice'

Areas of
Speech, Language & Communication include
  • voice health (e.g. linked to heavy use)

  • voice volume

  • clarity of speech (e.g. linked to health issues)

but extend to other specific areas.

Please get in touch to discuss your needs.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, my focus is on helping adult clients with the 'mechanics' of communication. I am particularly interested in aspects of voice and speech.

You may be struggling to keep your spoken voice strong and healthy-sounding. Perhaps you suspect your problems are linked to the way you use your voice in your job? For instance, it may get heavy use, in teaching or call centre work. Maybe your lifestyle or leisure activities, such as sport or singing, might be adding strain?

You may be having problems maintaining the volume of your voice or the clarity of your speech, as part of a chronic or progressive health condition such as Parkinson's, or following a stroke.

We rely on our voice not just for communicating needs, wishes, and for socialising. Our voice also signals and affirms who we are. So, to experience difficulties with our voice in this sense can significantly undermine our confidence and sense of control in our lives.

It can be difficult to access individual face-to-face support from the NHS. Currently the Speech & Language Therapy services they can offer are limited, and waiting lists for available services can be long.

As an independent therapist, I'm available to offer Speech & Language Therapy that is tailored to you, for as many sessions as you want and need.

I offer an initial assessment session to explore the difficulties you're experiencing, the context of your broader health and lifestyle, and how you use your voice. I will observe you talking on certain tasks to gain a picture of your communication. Together, we will discuss my observations, explore your needs and goals, and consider what support I may be able to offer.

If some therapy sessions could help, we can identify how many we're aiming for, over what time period. I may also recommend that you practise therapy exercises between sessions to maximise the benefits and help you to 'carry over' techniques into daily life.

Assessment and Therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes long. We can vary tasks, work at a pace that is comfortable for you and take short breaks, as needed.

If you have any questions, or would like to arrange an initial Speech & Language Therapy session, please get in touch.

We can also arrange a free, short phone chat to help you decide.
